Shattuckite Nuggets Large Size 2" One Pound Lot
A rare opportunity and unique addition! These Shattuckite Nuggets are a real mineral, mined from the Earth in Bisbee, Arizona. However, they are not Turquoise. They are another copper based mineral named after the copper mine in which they were originally discovered back in 1912. With a color like Bisbee Turquoise mixed with Azurite and pyrite, these nuggets create exceptional cabochons reminiscent of Bisbee Turquoise but also completely amazing in their own way. Gemmy crystal sky blues mix with deep royal blues and metallic inclusions in fascinating and beautiful kaleidoscope patterns. Unlike Turquoise, Shattuckite can form crystals and there are many cool Shattuckite specimens and geodes. We sliced and windowed a stone chosen at random which you can see in the last picture as an example of what to expect when you cut and polish these amazing nuggets. The majority of these rough nuggets fall within the 2" size range. Overall they range between 1-1/2" up to 3-1/2" measured along the longest edge. Check the photos closely to get a good idea of the variation and what to expect. These are stabilized to protect the color over time. You will receive 1 pound of nuggets from the lot pictured. Each 1 pound lot is different and the number and size of stones will vary. It's easy to see this mineral comes from Bisbee and is a cousin of Bisbee Turquoise.
