The Kingman turquoise mine is one of the largest in the United States and has yielded the greatest quantity of stones in history. The mind also include two other areas: the Ithaca Peak mine and Turquoise Mountain. Each part of the mine producing its own variations of Turquoise. The Navajo tribe originally mined Kingman turquoise in 600 A.D. as part of a trade network that was set up. It was later discovered again in the 1800s, but did not become mainstream until Leonard Hardy launched a marketing campaign from 1950-1970.
